Proceeds support Christ Church, Malvern

The Hills Singers have been together for 24 years. The choir has a membership of 25 voices and is based in Malvern. They enjoy performing a varied repertoire which spans a period from the 16th century to present day and often sing unaccompanied.

Their programme for 13 May comprises a broad range of music, including Monteverdi’s Mass for Four Voices (1650), Tippett’s Five Negro Spirituals and Chilcott’s I Share Creation.  The second half of the programme features shorter pieces: madrigals, folksongs and spirituals, with works by Vaughan Williams, Judith Weir, Rathbone and many more.

The Hills Singers recently enjoyed a workshop with Simon Berridge (THE SIXTEEN) who said
‘You are a most responsive choir… I have a very busy May, but, when are you performing [Monteverdi Mass for Four Voices (1650) and Tippett Five Negro Spirituals]…  if I can make it, I’ll definitely come.’
This will be an evening of serene and uplifting pieces to celebrate the coming of summer; the programme is sure to delight and pour sunshine on the soul.

Musical Director, Carol Green, has conducted choirs throughout her career and, in addition to the Hills Singers, currently directs Worcester Young Voices.  Carol has devoted much of her professional life to promoting singing in all age groups and was awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 2005 in recognition of her singing work in education, enabling her to travel to Hungary and Canada to study best practice in class and in choir.  She now teaches locally and works as an examiner, advisory teacher and vocal animateur.
